Flights from Aberdeen to Dubrovnik launched

Visitors to Dubrovnik from Scotland will soon be able to get to their destination a lot more easily.

Airline flyglobespan has announced it is scheduling its first ever flight from Aberdeen to the Croatian city for summer 2010.

Chief executive of the airline Rick Green said that he was hoping it would give people in the north-east of Scotland better holiday options.

"Dalaman was a new route for 2009 that worked well. We look for Dubrovnik to have similar appeal as Croatia's popularity grows," he said.

Prices from flyglobespan begin at just £61.99, meaning you can get to your Croatian villa in quick time and at a reasonable price.

Dubrovnik is home to some of the most picturesque sights in all of Croatia, including Sponza Palace, which was constructed in 1522 and is one of the few surviving buildings of the earthquake that struck the region in 1667.

Also worthy of a visit is the Franciscan Monastery, which is thought to contain some of the oldest apothecary artefacts in Europe.
