Flights to Croatia from US set to start
17 June 2011A new holiday option is now available to Americans, with one airline due to launch the first flights to Croatia from the US.
Air Plus, a Chicago-based company, is to operate its first service to Zagreb today (June 17th), Chicago Rockford Airport has confirmed.
It said the maiden voyage is due to take off tonight at 21:00 local time and will land in the Croatian capital tomorrow.
The flight will then become a weekly occurrence, taking place on Friday evenings, before the plane returns to the US on Sunday afternoons.
In addition to landing in Zagreb, the service will then continue to Belgrade, ensuring people visiting any part of the Balkans from the US have a travel option.
Earlier this week, there was another boost to Croatia's aviation industry when Spanish carrier Iberia confirmed it is to reinstate its routes between Madrid and Zagreb and Dubrovnik for the summer season.
