Flights to Croatia 'make Kvarner holiday a top option'
13 April 2011British tourists looking for somewhere to get away to this summer should consider a holiday in Kvarner, if the Croatian National Tourist Office is to be relied upon.
The organisation noted Croatia Airlines is starting up its London Heathrow to Rijeka route once more, making the north-west region easily accessible.
From April 20th, a service will run between the destinations every Wednesday, meaning UK residents can be on the Dalmatian coast within two hours.
When they arrive, the tourism body promised they will find a vibrant and traditional area, perhaps best known for its annual carnival that is said to rival Rio.
The railway link from Vienna to Opatija made Kvarner popular when it was built in 1873 and it enjoys similar success today, with 100,000 visitors heading to Rijeka every year.
From Kvarner, holidaymakers in Croatia can also explore neighbouring countries such as Italy and Slovenia on day trips.
