Flights to Croatia 'to benefit from airport upgrade'
10 January 2011People taking flights to Croatia over the coming months could find their experience is greatly improved by a €9.4 million (£7.8 million) revamp of one of the country's major transport hubs.
Zagreb Airport is set to become the beneficiary of the cash, which will aim to ease congestion problems, Balkans.com reports following a piece by Poslovni Dnevnik.
Tonci Peovic, chief executive officer at the airport, tells the news source a number of its peers from around Europe have shown an interest in assisting the project.
He notes it is vital as the terminal in place is not large enough to deal with the number of people travelling to Zagreb.
Among the improvements due to be made that may enhance the quality and enjoyment of a holiday in Croatia for many are an expansion of the airport's floor space and the construction of a new domestic check-in area.
British budget airline easyJet is due to start flights to Zagreb from London Gatwick next month.
