Follow in footsteps of Brad Pitt on holiday in Croatia

People heading to Croatia for a holiday have been advised to devote time to exploring the historic and beautiful island of Hvar.

George Webster, writing for CNN, says a number of Hollywood stars have been known to visit and enjoy the landmass just off the coast of Split.

These include the likes of actor Brad Pitt, as well as acclaimed director Steven Spielberg and Sharon Stone.

"Remarkably verdant and rich with the scent of heather and pines, the island is famous for its purple hills cloaked in fields of Lavender," he states.

Mr Webster goes on to describe Hvar as now boasting a reputation as Croatia's answer to Saint Tropez.

Among the must-see attractions is its "buzzing" nightlife, picturesque landscape and Carpe Diem club, a favourite of the celebrities in town.

Hvar can be accessed via a short ferry ride from Split, where routes to other Adriatic islands such as Brac are also available.
