Football legends promote Croatia's Adriatic coast
29 April 2009News of rising interest in the Adriatic Coast of Croatia among international tourists has spread all the way to South Korea after a top footballer talked up the potential of the region to a group of Asian businessmen.
With low-cost airlines bringing in tens of thousands more holidaymakers to popular destinations such as Pula and Zadar each year, former Croatian international football player Mato Neretljak has been charged with welcoming potential investors to the country.
Most recently, according to the Croatian Times, the sports star greeted a delegation from Korea's Ceo Eurocase company and took them on a whistle-stop tour of some of the most popular Croatian villa holiday destinations, such as Brac, Split, Trogir and Podstrana.
As with many visitors, the businessman also took the time to sample Croatia's colourful sporting scene, paying a visit to the Hadjuk Split football stadium.
The growing potential of Croatia as both a holiday as well as an investment destination has once again been highlighted with the news that the Transport Ministry has signed a deal with a consortium of private sectors firms for ongoing improvements to the national road infrastructure.
