Free public transport introduced in Zagreb
06 May 2009For those currently considering a cheaper 2009 holiday vacation, Croatia could be the ideal option.
The country's capital city Zagreb introduced free public transport in its downtown area yesterday, which will be beneficial to locals and tourists alike in the coming months.
Zagreb could provide the venue for a few nights of a Croatia holiday, ahead of a trip down to the more familiar Croatia travel hotspots on the Dalmatia coast.
In addition, those travelling to the T-Mobile INmusic Festival next month should be among the first people to use the new system during the vacation season.
Ivan Tolic, head of Zagreb Municipal Transit System, commented on the new transport initiative, which may result in a more environmentally-friendly atmosphere in the capital.
"This is designed to reduce car traffic in the centre and encourage residents to park their cars in public garages outside the centre," he explained to the Croatian Times.
