George Lucas to 'use the force' in Croatia
26 March 2009Hollywood director George Lucas is heading to Croatia for his upcoming movie project, it has been reported.
The cult filmmaker, who is responsible for the phenomenally successful Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, will be heading to the Istrian town of Draguc for his next blockbuster, Red Tails, according to the Javno news portal.
While the medieval location will be used to represent southern Italy in Lucas's cinematic vision, he and his crew will no doubt find it hard to resist the allure of this beautiful region.
Aside from the miles of coastline, beaches and sky blue waters, visitors to Istria will also want to see cultural and historical attractions such as Battiala-Lazzarini Palace in Labin and the Chapel of St Maria Formosa in Pula.
As the largest city in Istria, Pula has transformed itself through the ages from an administrative centre in Roman times to a tourism hotspot today.
