Germans 'most likely to take holidays in Croatia'
10 March 2011The people of Germany appear to be holding on to their title as the most frequent visitors to Croatia.
Early-season figures showed Germans are once again the number one travellers to Croatia in 2011, according to the Croatian Times, citing a report by Vecernji List.
Indeed, it noted holidays in Croatia are one of the top five travel options among the demographic.
Some experts believe about 100,000 extra Germans could be attracted to resorts such as Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar this year.
However, minister of tourism Damir Bajs is quoted by the news source as stating: "We would be happy if last year's growth of 4.2 per cent continued."
Unrest in north African nations – such as Egypt and Tunisia – could play into Croatia's hands, with some of those put off by the disturbances perhaps opting for the Dalmatian coast instead.
One benefit of taking a break in the country is the healthy and tasty food on offer, with Dr Carina Norris, a nutrition consultant at RNutr, recently suggesting a Mediterranean diet is great for the body.
