For football fans looking for the perfect vacation Croatia could be the ideal option.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Croatian football fans are among some of the most dedicated to the sport worldwide.

While they may not rank on top in terms of attending games, the country enjoys the most committed television audience.

The findings arise from research carried out by authors Stefan Szymanski and Simon Kuper, who were researching their book Soccernomics.

They found that almost one in eight households in Croatia (12.4 per cent) are part of the nation's core football audience - more than any other country worldwide.

At present, the favourable exchange rates could leave enough funds in the budget on a vacation in Croatia to attend a high-profile football match in person.

Figures from Post Office Travel Services recently showed more people are considering a Croatian holiday as the number of kunas available to the pound is currently high relative to some other world currencies.
