Golf icon hoping to design course in Croatia
13 November 2009Golfers may want to book up a trip to Croatia in the future after learning that one of the sport's legends, Greg Norman, is hoping to design a golf course in the country.
Razvoj golf company will today (November 13th) ask the Dubrovnik government for permission to build an iconic 18-hole course and tourist resort on top of Srdj Hill - which overlooks the city.
But it is the involvement of Norman - who is both part-funding and designing the project - that will excite golf enthusiasts most.
He has been recognised as one of the planet's finest course creators since founding his company, Greg Norman Golf Course Design, in 1987.
In the last 22 years he has opened 66 courses worldwide and is currently working on 52 more.
The legendary golfer will be in Croatia today to speak on behalf of Razvoj at the planning meeting.
Greg Norman won the British Open on two occasions - in 1986 and 1993.
