High-quality fish dishes 'symbol of holiday in Croatia'
29 September 2010If there is one thing tourists can be guaranteed of when heading to Croatia for a holiday it is a fine array of fish dishes in local restaurants and eateries.
The Independent, which is currently running a series of articles on food from around the world, nominates fish stew as a meal that typifies the country.
"Almost every Croatian we've met who grew up by the sea says they started fishing before they could walk, which is impressive. How they cook their catch is even more so," the newspaper states.
Seafood is simply a way of life in Croatia, with oysters, lobsters and the finest species all on offer, freshly caught out of the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Lovers of food from below the ocean's surface may therefore find a holiday in Croatia to their liking.
