Holiday in Rijeka 'includes a number of attractions'
19 April 2011People planning a holiday in the Croatian town of Rijeka should be aware of several of the major attractions to be found there.
Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, explained the natural beauty and historic buildings of the destination are among its highlights.
She noted Trsat is a great place to visit, as its location on a hill above Rijeka offers not only a castle and the Sanctuary of the Mother of God, but also splendid views.
The 12-kilometre long promenade is sure to be a favourite with visitors, as its relaxing qualities make for a pleasant walk, while a number of islands are located nearby.
"Head to Ucka Nature Park and enjoy stunning views of Kvarner Bay from its Vojak Peak [at] 1,401m and of course a must-do is to try great Kvarner king prawns," Ms Matestic continued.
Rijeka can be reached with flights to Croatia from London Stansted thanks to Ryanair.
