Holiday in Zadar 'offers much more than festival'

The Soundwave music festival is just one reason to head to Zadar for a holiday in Croatia.

Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, says there is plenty going on in the city and its surroundings at this time of year.

While many will be flocking to the historic city and using its accommodation as a base for the festival - which takes place 20 minutes away in Petrcane - visiting in order to relax on nearby beaches or wander through the quaint streets could be just as appealing.

"Zadar is somewhere RyanAir have started flying to and, yes, at this time of year they have plenty of events on around there," Mr Hall explains.

The city is also located ideally for those wishing to explore the northern part of the Dalmatian coast, or Croatia's mountains and national parks.

Soundwave kicks off on Friday (July 23rd) and runs through the weekend.
