Holidaymakers in Croatia 'set for Museum Night'
29 January 2010Organisers of the Night of the Museums event in Croatia - where more than 100 museums and galleries are free to visit for one evening only - are gearing up for its launch tonight (January 29th), which is likely to attract a number of tourists currently in the country.
The Croatian Museum Association has encouraged venues in more than 40 cities to sign up to take part, the Croatian Times reports.
Last year Night of the Museums drew in 150,000 travellers - many of whom were on a Croatian holiday and may have been staying in a Croatian villa.
As well as historical exhibitions the event will feature concerts, performances and souvenir sales, the newspaper reveals.
Holidaymakers currently in Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka and many other cities can benefit from alternated bus routes for the evening, which have been designed to allow people to visit as many museums as possible.
Last week the Visit Split website suggested that the popularity of Night of the Museums "confirms the thesis of the importance of Croatian museums for the general cultural-touristic offer".
