Holidaymakers in Croatia 'to benefit from government investment'
21 January 2011A significant investment by the government in up to 12 projects should create benefits for those who take holidays in Croatia in the future.
According to Guide2Croatia, the national authority has decided to splash out on a series of infrastructure improvements and tourist attractions upgrades.
For example, it is said to be shelling out €9 million (£7.66 million) for a revamp of Port of Gruz in Dubrovnik, as well as €12 million on the rebuilding of a pier in Sibenik that may be popular with guests.
Other schemes to receive the backing of the government include the renovation of a railroad, improvements to an oil depot and investment in the port of Rijeka.
Prime minister Jadranka Kosor is quoted by the website as suggesting the finance will provide economic recovery and are the "heart and brain" of her power.
The latest United Nations World Economic Situation and Progress report, detailed by the Croatian Times following an article by Business, recently revealed the outlook for Croatia's economy in 2011 is good.
