Holidays in Croatia 'represent excellent value for money'
28 July 2009Croatia has been named as one of the best-value European holiday destinations for British travellers.
According to the Post Office Beach Barometer, published last week, travellers can expect to see their money stretch much further on a holiday in Croatia than they would in Greece or Portugal.
A large beach towel costs just £2.59 in Croatia, compared to £13.85 in France.
Similarly, a family meal for two adults and two children comes in at £41.41 in Croatia, while those on holiday in Italy can expect to pay more than twice this sum.
Commenting on the findings, Sarah Munro, Post Office head of travel services, said: "We found that while a family meal costs around £57 in Brighton, it would set UK tourists back much less in Croatia and Bulgaria."
A recent survey carried out by Sainsbury's Finance revealed that, collectively, British travellers are set to spend around £43.86 billion this summer as they jet abroad to escape the doom and gloom at home.
