Holidays in Croatia 'taste great with local wine'
20 May 2011One of the many advantages to taking a holiday in Croatia is the chance to sample some of the country's delicious wines.
Those with a fondness for the alcoholic beverage might like to make a note of the pinot produced by Boris Drenski, which has been recognised by a magazine, reported the Croatian times.
British publication Decanter named his Bodren Icewine 2009, made in northern Croatia, as its regional champion from a total of 12,000 entries.
It is just the latest in a series of accolades for Mr Drenski's wines, as the magazine awarded him two gold medals in 2009 and a silver and a bronze last year, the newspaper noted.
Several other Croatian winemakers received titles from Decanter and are also worth tasting while on the Dalmatian coast.
One of the country's premier wine-producing areas is southern Dalmatia and Dubrovnik, which the National recently described as offering a combination of all the flavours of Europe.
