Horse riding recommended as activity to enjoy on holiday in Croatia
24 September 2010Horse riding is an activity that many people travelling to Croatia for a holiday may wish to enjoy.
The Croatian National Tourist Board says the country has a number of centres from where the creatures can be used to explore the picturesque countryside.
These are most commonly found in Slavonia, as well as on the Dalmatian coast in Istria and beyond.
Whether tourists opt to visit a small family-run establishment or a large, modern horse centre, expert tuition and the opportunity to ride are likely to be on offer.
Holidaymakers in Croatia who find themselves in Slavonia may be interested in a state horse farm that houses Lipizzaner horses - a breed that dates back to the 13th century.
Other activities recommended by the board to those travelling to the Dalmatian coast include sport fishing and golf.
Indeed, last week Desert Sun reported that 15 sites have been earmarked in Croatia as potential venues for new golf courses.
