Increasing number of bargain seekers 'should look towards Croatia holiday'

Cost is continuing to drive the holiday market, according to a travel expert, which may make a break in Croatia particularly attractive to many people.

"Every traveller wants to eke out as much luxury as their budget will allow," says Sharron Livingston, editor at thetravelmagazine.net.

Booking a Croatian villa or waterfront property - in a country located outside of the notoriously expensive eurozone - may provide the most cost-effective luxury holiday Europe has to offer.

Ms Livingston also predicts that the popularity of cruises is set to increase significantly through 2010.

That could mean water-based tours of the Adriatic Sea, off Croatia's immaculate coastline, become especially popular, with seaside cities such as Split and Dubrovnik enjoying high numbers of visitors.

Research by Hayes and Jarvis revealed that the number of holiday bookings is currently on the rise, with results for January 70 per cent up on the corresponding month in 2008.
