International Autumn Zagreb Fair opens
17 September 2008Croatian agriculture minister Petar Cobankovic and Slovenian counterpart Milan Pogacnik have opened this year's International Autumn Zagreb Fair, it has been revealed.
According to Javno.com, president Stjepan Mesic was also on hand to launch the event, which offers products from 600 communities across Croatia and beyond.
Guests from "Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Spska" were among those to have exhibitions at the fair for the first time in its 84-year history.
Mr Cobankovic told the news provider the event reminded him of the importance of Croatia's rural areas, which take up nearly 90 per cent of the country.
He added: "Agriculture is more than just an economic industry. It is a way of life, it shapes families in a specific way, family relations, it cherishes a certain system of values."
Visitors to Zagreb for the fair, which runs until September 21st, can also enjoy the World Theatre Festival, which takes place from September 20th to 29th.
