Island hopping in Croatia

Those looking for an alternative to more well-trodden paths may fancy taking a trip around Croatia's many islands.

Writing for the Associated Press, Sheila Norman-Culp said that if people are finding Spain "too overbuilt", Italy and Greece "too overcrowded" and the French Riviera "too expensive", perhaps they should try Croatia.

According to the expert, Croatia's water is "clean and clear", while the country boasts a favourable climate.

"I usually snort at tourist-advertising slogans, but Croatia's new one – 'The Mediterranean as it once was' - is right on the money," she claimed.

Enjoying a boat trip between Split and a number of islands, including Brac and Hvar, Ms Norman-Culp said that her "Dalmatian explorations have just begun".

In related news, Saga Holidays recently claimed that tourists travelling on its Sarajevo, Mostar and Dubrovnik tour will find "some of Europe's most fascinating cultural cities".

The firm described the region as the "other side" of the Mediterranean.
