Istria holidays 'one of world's best'
29 June 2011Holidays in Istria may be among the most desirable among travellers planning breaks in Croatia over the coming months.
Whether it is the Venetian-style waterfront of Rovinj or the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pula, there are plenty of attractions in this part of the world.
The region's official tourist board claims the sea is always the focal point in Istria, with life in the area dominated by the Adriatic for hundreds of years.
Many of the natural wonders that first intrigued fishermen and explorers – such as the coast's coves, bays and wide spaces – still fascinate visitors today.
And its beauty and class were noted earlier this year when National Geographic named it as one of its top ten destinations in the world for 2011.
The magazine suggested Istria is home to more than 40 beaches and offers magnificent water quality.
A dense forest in the region is another of its attractive features, while the Medulin Riviera is said to be a great place to relax.
