Istria is "easy and fun" to explore on Croatia holiday
06 July 2010The region of Istria in northern Croatia is an "easy and fun" place to take a closer look at while on holiday in the country.
One user of Fodor's, a travel experiences website, asks fellow members which spots are best to add to her itinerary for an upcoming break in Croatia that already includes stays in Split and Dubrovnik accommodation.
A respondent, known as kimwhits, suggests Istria is the top choice once the Dalmatian coast's premier cities have been enjoyed.
"We spent five days in Istria roaming around and loved it. [There are] lots of fun Roman antiquities and a great church with mummies," the individual explains.
The author also notes people who visit the rural region can expect to sample "great food".
This may centre largely on seafood, which is arguably the trademark cuisine of the Dalmatian coast.
Britons thinking of booking a Croatian villa may first wish to secure flights to the city of Rijeka, located in the heart of the region.
