Korcula: 'beautiful streets and stunning setting'
10 August 2009A prominent travel writer has spoken about Korcula on the Dalmatian coast.
Killian Fox, writing in the Guardian, has noted that the island of Korcula offers a "stunning setting" for travellers.
After staying in the Lesic-Dimitri Palace, Mr Fox wrote about the "heritage and charm" of the old town.
He said in the newspaper: "Its vibrant character remains intact and you can still wander the slender streets of the beautiful old town and imagine yourself in medieval times.
"I watched the old town grow distant and thought for a moment about the centuries of action-packed history tightly compressed within those sturdy fortifications."
Korcula is an island in the Adriatic Sea and offers a myriad of experiences for tourists including secluded beaches, historic architecture and history as well as a number of sporting activities such as windsurfing.
It is rumoured that legendary explorer Marco Polo was born on Korcula and the house where he was allegedly born still stands as a visitor attraction to this day.
