Last-minute Croatian villas available 'for culture-rich festival'
17 February 2010There could still be time for tourists to book a last-minute Croatian villa and head to the Balkans for the finale of the Festival of Sokci.
Taking place over 11 days in the Slavonian town of Zupanja, the festival features traditional Croatian rituals - such as horse-drawn carriage riding, dressing in folk costumes and pig slaughtering - according to the Croatian National Tourist Board.
A spokesperson for the board states: "This year, all the colourful diversity will once again be enriched still more with folklore groups coming from other parts of Croatia and abroad."
Travellers to Croatia hoping to catch a glimpse of the country's diverse history and experience its ancient traditions may deem the festival to be the perfect opportunity to do so.
But they will have to move quickly to secure a Croatian villa in time, with the event set to come to a climax next Tuesday (February 23rd).
The tourist board stated this week that the rich countryside found in the Slavonia region is a "picturesque wine country" - and may be ideal for tourists.
