London Eye replica set to be enjoyed by Croatia holidaymakers

People staying in a family villa in Croatia will soon be able to take a trip on a London Eye replica while in the country.

The Croatian Times reports the town of Zadar, located in the heart of the Dalmatian coast, is to get its own replica of the iconic landmark.

British music producer and Zadar resident Nick Colgan is behind the project, which has been announced by the British Embassy in Zagreb.

Zadar's version of the huge wheel is likely to dominate the landscape on the town's seafront, where it is due to be placed in 2011, the newspaper states.

The London Eye is 135 metres in height and weighs 2,100 tonnes, perhaps emphasising the scale of change those heading on holiday to Croatia can expect in Zadar.

On a clear day in the English capital it is possible to see up to 25 miles from the Eye, which in Croatia should mean visitors can expect views across the Adriatic Sea and into the surrounding countryside.
