Low-cost flights to Croatia may be set to increase
01 September 2010A budget airline offering low-cost flights to Croatia may be formed by the end of the year, reports in the country suggest.
It is thought plans are in place for a new carrier to be set up, which would be the first such company with a focus on price in Croatia, the Croatian Times reports 24 Sata as stating.
Entitled Dalmatian.hr, the project is being led by Australia-based Croatian businessman Zeljko Romic.
The sources speculate that flights between the country and other premier spots such as New York may be created.
It is thought the new airline would charge about 40 per cent less than the current competition, the daily newspaper notes.
Holidaymakers planning a break in Croatia may be delighted by the news, with the cost of enjoying the sun and sea on the Dalmatian coast perhaps set to fall.
UK budget airlines easyJet and Ryanair already offer flights to Croatia, serving destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar.
