'Many foreign tourists' head to Croatia boat show
30 March 2009Thousands of foreign tourists are expected to descend on the Adriatic coast for the Croatia Boat Show.
As reported by the Croatian Times, the festival in Split will see more than 1,300 exhibitors display approximately 500 maritime attractions.
The show, which began on Saturday (March 28th), will run until April 5th.
Minister of tourism, Damir Bajs, told the Croatian Times: "Now, at a time of world crisis when many nautical fairs have closed their doors, Split offers the Croatia Boat Show, which will attract many foreign tourists."
He added that the city was anticipating up to 50,000 visitors from other countries, which would be "a great promotion" of the country, considering the media attention it could attract.
Meanwhile, statistics from Companiesandmarkets.com have shown that the number of holidaymakers visiting Croatia increased by 2.6 per cent during the first eight months of 2008.
