Mickey Rourke hits Dubrovnik

Oscar nominated actor Mickey Rourke is the latest celebrity to be sunning himself in Dubrovnik.

Rourke, 55, was seen splashing about in the Adriatic waters of the city as he prepared for his appearance at the Dubrovnik Film Meeting.

He is at the event to promote his highly acclaimed movie the Wrestler, in which he starred as Randy 'the Ram' Robinson, a professional wrestler who is battling with his ageing body as he searches for a life outside the sport.

Speaking about training for the movie at the glamorous film event in Dubrovnik, Rourke told journalists: "I used to go to the gym for eight months and practiced wrestling for another three months.

"It really hurt, but I didn't want to go the doctor. I tried acupuncture."

Dubrovnik was also the holiday destination of choice for singer Beyonce and rap star Jay-Z last week and is fast becoming "the new celebrity hotspot," according to the Daily Mail.
