More tourists choosing to holiday in Croatian capital
13 May 2011An increasing number of people are opting for Zagreb when it comes to choosing a holiday destination this spring.
New figures from the Zagreb Tourist Board have revealed that the quantity of visitors to the city in April was two per cent up on the same month in 2010, reported the Croatian Times.
A total of 52,350 tourists arrived in the Croatian capital during the 30-day period, with a total of 90,280 overnight stays.
The majority of the guests were from other countries, with Germany the main provider of travellers, followed by Bulgaria, Italy, the US and Austria, the newspaper noted.
Indeed, international visitors were said to be up by 35 per cent on last year, with those from overseas responsible for more than 68,000 of the nights in Croatia accommodation.
One factor behind the growth of the city's tourism market could be the introduction of new flights to Zagreb with easyJet from London Gatwick.
