New ferry links Split and Supetar
27 July 2009A new ferry will carry passengers between two popular destinations in Croatia.
National ferry line Jadrolinija has launched a ship that will travel from Split to Supetar in the island of Brac, reports the Croatian Times.
Those planning a holiday in Croatia may be interested to hear that the journey is expected to take less than 50 minutes.
The paper says that the new ship will accommodate 1,300 passengers and 138 cars.
It is said to have cost Jadrolinija 9.97 million (£8.62 million) to build.
Speaking to the paper, the firm's head Slavko Loncar said that it plans to build another ferry for launch in 2010.
Travel site Bracinfo.com describes the island as providing "everything one needs for an unforgettable holiday in an unspoiled natural environment".
The island offers a range of activities including visits to local food producers and prehistoric monuments, hiking in limestone gorges and sunbathing on beaches and bays.
