New flights launched for Croatia
18 November 2008New flights have gone on sale between Albania and Croatia, which will operate three times a week.
Belle Air, an Albanian airline, will fly between Tirana and Zagreb on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Andrea Gebbeken, chief executive officer of Tirana International Airport, described the new air link as "highly significant", as both countries have applied for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation membership.
"It is pleasing to see that after having a common agenda, Croatia and Albania now have a common and direct physical link with each other," she adds.
A ribbon was cut to open the service, by the Croatian ambassador to Albania Darko Joavorski, Ms Gebbeken and the accountable manager of Belle Air Arbi Xhelo.
It was also announced today that new flights are now on sale between Northern Ireland and Croatia.
A new Jet2.com service between Belfast and Dubrovnik is now on sale, with the flights set to become operational in the summer of next year.
The airline says it is bucking the trend currently being seen in the industry by expanding its services, in a move which boss Phillip Meeson says is an "exciting time".
