New flights to Croatia up and running
15 February 2011A new set of flights to Croatia from London are up and running, offering Britons the chance to take a break in the country with relative ease.
Budget airline easyJet operated its first service between Gatwick and Zagreb on Friday (February 11th), reports the Croatian Times.
After landing at Pleso Airport in the Balkan nation's capital city, passengers were greeted by David Blunt, the British ambassador to Croatia.
"I am looking forward to this cooperation, which is yet another form of our support for Croatia's entrance into the European Union," the newspaper quotes Mr Blunt as saying.
One-way tickets for the flights to Croatia are being sold from €31.99 (£26.97), potentially providing an affordable way for people to enjoy a holiday in Zagreb.
In addition to the new route to the capital, easyJet already runs services from the UK to other Croatian destinations such as Split and Dubrovnik, both of which are located on the Dalmatian coast.
