New health spa for Opatija
07 January 2009The Croatian resort Opatija has been given a major tourism boost with the announcement of a new health spa.
As a result of an agreement between Indian health firm Jiva and local company ParamAyu, the quaint coastal town will be home to a dedicated team of alternative therapists and wellbeing specialists.
What's more, the spa will also contain a gym and swimming pool for its clients to cool down at its Hotel Opatija location.
The company said in a statement: "There has been a tremendous interest in Croatia and other east European countries as hotspots for natural healthcare.
"As a result, a large number of spas have come up to meet the demands of wellness and health benefits."
It added that the opening had "enormous significance" for Jiva, as it was the first spa the company had launched outside of its native India.
Opatija has proved to be a popular resort for tourists, with many visiting not only for the Mediterranean climate, but for its stunning natural scenery and intriguing history.
