New port 'offers boat access to Croatian villas in Dubrovnik'
02 February 2010Tourists who book a Croatian villa in the Dubrovnik region this year could consider arriving by boat, after a new docking station opened in the ancient city.
Dubrovnik, which is located on the sun-kissed, immaculate Adriatic coastline, is a popular destination for holidays all year round, with the Guardian last week labelling it the top choice for a Valentine's break.
Now, travelling to the city could be easier than ever, with the 26 million (£22.7 million) port already in action, according to the Croatian Times.
Prime minister Jadranka Kosor told the newspaper that the development "would help Dubrovnik remain a top travel port".
Arriving in Croatia by sea is arguably the most beautiful way to do so, with long, sandy beaches and the red tiles of Dubrovnik rooftops dominating the view.
Dubrovnik was recently named by sunshine.co.uk as the preferred holiday destination for British women hoping to escape the World Cup this summer.
