New waterfront 'provides ideal setting for romantic Croatian holiday'
17 February 2010Travellers to Dubrovnik can now enjoy a brand new waterfront which has opened in nearby Gruz after major reconstruction work.
Gruz Waterfront will provide spaces for tourist boats and a new walking path, reports the Croatian Times.
The new facilities - which have cost approximately 1.3 million (£1.13 million) - could be used by those on a Croatian holiday.
Construction of the 350-metre waterfront began in March 2009 and was organised and funded by the Dubrovnik Port Authority, the newspaper reveals.
The area may now provide the perfect backdrop for romantic strolls and days out - with Dubrovnik recently named by the Guardian as Europe's second-best holiday destination for couples.
Dubrovnik was also this week labelled "the biggest jewel" in Croatia's crown by the country's tourist board, with its ancient monasteries and palaces a favourite with many visitors.
It suggested the historic buildings around Luza Square are a must-see for people visiting the city.
