Parking cost reduction could make car hire more affordable on Croatian holiday

Travellers in Zagreb should, from Friday, benefit from a reduction in parking charges - which could make hiring a car on a Croatian holiday an attractive proposition.

Tariffs in the central zone of the Croatian capital will fall from 14 kunas (£1.72) to 12 kunas (£1.47) an hour, reports the Croatian Times.

Prices in the next zone out will be reduced even further, which could create affordable all-day parking within easy reach of the city centre.

Zagreb deputy mayor Jelene Pavicic Vukicevic tells the newspaper: "I call this an anti-recession measure by the city of Zagreb. We had long been receiving complaints about the high price of parking and have decided to lower prices."

Hiring a car and exploring Croatia is considered by some to be the easiest and most rewarding way to explore the historic country.

Croatian Villas has recently teamed up with Hertz, the car rental company, to offer a range of incentives - including ten per cent off all vehicle use in Croatia when booked through Croatian Villas.
