Pay a visit to Dubrovnik's walls
25 September 2009Dubrovnik is well known as one of the most beautiful cities on the Croatian coastline and its walls are a big part of its history.
However, holidaymakers only have a few weeks left to make the most out of them, with the current extra long-opening hours set to stop in the middle of October.
After that, the walls are still open to visit but they close at 5pm.
The entire city contained within them and is considered to be one of the strongest fortifications in all of Europe.
There are five fortresses intertwined with the walls, giving it an impressive feel.
It is well worth taking in some history when paying a trip to Dubrovnik, as well as enjoying its beaches and shops.
Other cultural sites to take in when in the walled city include the famous cathedral that dominates Dubrovnik's skyline as well as the Stradun, the widest street in the old town.
