Predicted tourism boom could increase number of Croatian holidays

International tourism is set to grow once more in 2010, according to a world authority on the topic - which could indicate a rising number of people may decide to enjoy a Croatian holiday.

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is predicting a three to four per cent expansion of the global tourism market over the next 12 months.

Taleb Rifai, secretary general of the UNWTO, said: "The results of recent months suggest that recovery is underway and even somewhat earlier and at a stronger pace than initially expected."

Croatia could be one destination where results exceed the forecasted levels, with its unique mix of immaculate beaches, historic cities and regular sunshine proving to be a winner with tourists in recent times.

Two travel experts writing for the Huffington Post last week suggested that during the first decade of this century Croatia grew to become one of the world's must-see destinations - with many people opting for a luxury Croatian villa as their base.
