"Prestigious" Istrian Gourmet and Jazz Festival to showcase local cuisine

Foodies on an Istrian holiday may like to head to the region's Gourmet and Jazz Festival held between July 18th and 24th.

The official Istria tourism body calls the event "one of the most prestigious gastronomic manifestations in Istria".

Specialities from the region can be discovered by those taking an Istria vacation who plan to visit the event.

Along with meat from the Boskarin cattle, produce from local wine and olive growers can also be sampled.

While trying different foods holidaymakers can also enjoy jazz performances from famous musicians, the organisation adds.

On the Friday (23rd) a Fisherman Evening will be held, while the day before people on an Istrian vacation can take part in the Truffles Evening.

The tourism body describes the local cuisine as consisting of simple ingredients that are turned into creations with "exceptional imagination", with olive oil an essential part of a meal from the region.
