Railway line in Croatia restored
16 December 2008The cities of Vinkovci and Osijek in Croatia were connected by rail once again on 14th December for the first time in 17 years.
A journey between the two destinations will take around 35 minutes and the top speed on the route is 80 kilometres per hour.
The restoration, which cost 90 million kunas (£9.8 million), was marked with a 6300 passenger train journey from Vinkovci and Osijek.
An opening ceremony will take place next week at the central station in Vinkovci for the service which comprises nine trains - five from Vinkovci and four from Osijek.
The UK's largest airline has recently announced it will be launching a new route from London Gatwick to Dubrovnik in Croatia next year.
From May 1st 2009, easyJet passengers will be able take a flight on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, which will cost from £29.99 one way including taxes and charges.
