Researching destinations can add up to a dream holiday
28 August 2009Holidaymakers yet to decide on a destination for their summer holiday would do well to research the areas they are thinking of travelling to.
That is according to Amelie Hurst, spokesperson at TripAdvisor, who was speaking after the annual Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) British Behaviour Abroad report revealed the areas where British tourists get into trouble.
In the FCO report, Croatia was not in the top 20 countries where Britons needed the most council abroad.
Ms Hurst recommended researching areas before travelling to avoid complications.
She said: "For many holidaymakers, researching the local customs and laws is an integral part of the trip-planning process.
"Several high profile cases in recent months have highlighted the fact that Britons don't always stop to consider the consequences that their overseas behaviour could have. Researching a destination before travelling to it can mean the difference between a dream holiday and a living nightmare."
