Rijeka unveils new city centre
17 March 2009Architects have unveiled designs for a stunning new development in the centre of Rijeka.
As featured on the design website Inhabitat, the structure will incorporate several indoor and outdoor spaces in its efforts to introduce a serene "urban oasis" in the city.
The project may also help boost Rijeka's tourism credentials, with the destination already offering a diverse range of modern and ancient cultural attractions.
Olivia Chen wrote on the website: "Situated between a public school and a main street, Rijeka's new city centre will offer a pedestrian link between these two elements while providing flexible indoor and outdoor spaces designated for the community."
She added that the architects had "created a sense of movement" with their choices for the new building, which is divided into a number of polygonal units.
