Russian tourists may have incentive to book accommodation in Croatia
14 March 2011An influx of Russian tourists staying in accommodation in Croatia over the coming months could be expected, after visa regulations were relaxed.
To celebrate the fact Russian visitors will no longer require the documentation to enter the country from April 1st, a special event was held in Split over the weekend, reports the Croatian Times.
It notes the city library hosted an exhibition of Russian culture, with paintings and arts and crafts on show.
"I am very glad about the fact Russian citizens won't need a visa to enter Croatia from April 1st," Russian ambassadord Robert Markaryan is quoted by the newspaper as stating.
One of the first consequences of this may be a sudden surge of holidays in Croatia booked by those residing in the world's largest country.
However, they may have some way to go to beat German tourists, who were named as the most frequent guests in Croatia recently by the news source, which was citing a report by Vecernji List.
