Singing festival may attract travellers to Croatia
29 June 2011A special singing festival could be one reason to travel to Croatia next month, with the event said to have enjoyed a renaissance in recent years.
The Croatian National Tourist Office has named the Dalmatian Harmony Singing Festival as one of its top dates for the diaries of those planning holidays in the country.
Taking place from July 3rd to 26th, the event is described by the tourism body as having significant appeal both in Croatia and to international musicians.
For three decades, the festival has been held in Omis and is designed to preserve and celebrate traditional Dalmatian harmony singing.
Experts in attendance will attempt to modernise and preserve the tunes and styles at their disposal in an attempt to attract young vocalists to keep the tradition going.
Another musical event that may appeal is a concert by Goran Koran, which is set to open the Dubrovnik Summer Festival on July 10th.
