Slovenia recommended as travel destination
11 May 2009Slovenia was recently recommended as an ideal travel destination by the Financial Times, with the newspaper describing the nation as "just the right size for human or national happiness".
It borders Croatia, so those embarking on a vacation to places such as Dubrovnik or Split may wish to visit the country's smaller neighbour.
Slovenia's main attractions include Lake Bled, which draws in thousands of tourists every year, and capital city Ljubljana, as well as skiing options.
The picturesque capital has a river running through its centre and offers a wide range of restaurants and drinking establishments throughout its centre.
Flights to the country can be taken from a number of European airports including London Stansted, Amsterdam and Stockholm.
Air routes for those taking a holiday in Croatia are also plentiful, with easyJet and Jet2.com among the budget airlines offering travel options, which are set to increase as the summer draws closer.
