"Spectacular coastline" makes Croatia holidays perfect for sailing
02 February 2011Sailing enthusiasts have already discovered the joys of holidays in Croatia and will continue to do so, in the opinion of one expert.
Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, explains there are a number of factors that contribute to make the Dalmatian coast the ideal spot for climbing on board a vessel and exploring the seas.
"There are many reasons, including the spectacular coastline and 1,244 islands, an existing sound infrastructure for sailing, the ideal climate and a reputation for its clear waters," she states.
The travel director goes on to note another benefit of the area is that it is possible to find isolation, perhaps on one of the many bays or inlets that line the shoreline.
Ms Matesic urges visitors to Croatia to try out the country's local delicacies on their journey, with seafood one of its undoubted specialities.
Some of the nation's premier coastal resorts include cities such as Dubrovnik and Split.
