Split concert could be perfect new year celebration

Music fans looking for the ideal new year getaway may want to consider Croatia after it was announced that a Ministry of Sound concert is to take place in Split.

The show will be held at the city's 12,000-capacity Spaladium Arena and will feature dance music by artists from Ibiza and Italy, reports the Croatian Times.

Speaking of the Split venue, Ministry of Sound tour manger Lindsey Dixon told the newspaper: "It is huge. But that is great for us because we have no technical limitations. We can promise a great spectacle."

An upbeat act such as Ministry of Sound could be the perfect way for many British new year revellers to count down to 2010.

Split, home to the multi-function and purpose-build Spaladium, has a unique Mediterranean climate and is Croatia's largest coastal city.

Other musical acts to perform in the Balkan country during the remainder of 2009 include the Pet Shop Boys and opera legend Jose Carreras.
