Split holiday 'more accessible to Europeans'

Following the release of airlines' timetables for 2010, it has been revealed that there will be nine per cent more flights carrying tourists to their Croatian holiday in the Dalmatian city compared with last year.

As well as popular links with Paris, London, Lille and Manchester, there will be an increased number of links with Scandinavia, reports Guide2Croatia.

The creation of extra flights will result in 1.53 million seats being available for people who have booked a Croatian holiday - and possibly a top-quality Croatian villa too.

Croatia Airlines - the country's national carrier - has added an additional seven per cent worth of flights to its Split schedule.

The Croatian National Tourism Board this week stated that "both culture and history had been generous" to Split.

It described the city as "the heart of Dalmatia" and suggested the numerous nearby islands - such as Brac and Hvar - as ideal day-trip destinations.
